The name Zillah comes directly from the Hebrew name צלה (tsillâh), where it is the name of one of Lamech’s two wives in Genesis 4:19–23. The name comes from the Hebrew verb צלה (-L-H), which means "to roast, bake," as in 1 Samuel 2:15 and Isaiah 44:16. It could also come from the noun צל (tsel), meaning "shadow." Her son Tubal-cain "forged implements of copper and iron," and her daughter was Naamah. This name later became popular among many Puritans.
