From the Latin noun murus, meaning "wall," a mural is a work of art, typically a painting, applied directly to a wall. Ironically, one of the most famous, albeit unknown, mural artists is Bansky, the pseudonymous street artist and political activist who creates mural art around the world as political commentary on global events.
