Jedidah (ידידה) was the mother of King Josiah of Judah. The name Jedidah, ידידה (yĕḏîḏâh), comes from the Hebrew verbידד  (yadad), which means “to love,” and renders the meaning “beloved.” This name is not to be confused with Jedidiah/Yedidiah ידידיה (yĕḏîḏĕyâh), which is one of the names applied to Solomon by the prophet Nathan (2 Samuel 12:25). While this seems to be only one letter difference, Solomon’s name ends with a poetic form of the divine name יָהּ (yah), which yields the meaning “Beloved of the Lord.”
