The Hebrew noun בקר (bôqer, pronounced BOH-ker) is the word for "morning." You are likely familiar with בקר (bôqer) from the creation account of Genesis 1 as the phrase, "and there was evening and there was morning (בקר)," which appears in verses 5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31 to break up the narrative of creation into seven days.

Today, the word בקר (bôqer) is still in use and can be seen in the modern Hebrew phrase בקר טוב (pronounced BOH-ker TOHV), which means "good morning."
